{"id":50,"date":"2021-04-05T20:55:11","date_gmt":"2021-04-05T20:55:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/paperslop.com\/?p=50"},"modified":"2024-05-21T15:58:36","modified_gmt":"2024-05-21T19:58:36","slug":"amazon-announces-new-packageless-delivery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paperslop.com\/?p=50","title":{"rendered":"Amazon Announces New Packageless Delivery"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/0\/04\/Scientology_Disseminations_Distribution_Center_Los_Angeles.jpg\" alt=\"Inside of a modern distribution center\" width=\"661\" height=\"282\"\/><figcaption>Scientology Media, CC BY-SA 2.0<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>SEATTLE WA-&nbsp; Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has announced that company will begin rolling out packageless delivery by the end of the summer.&nbsp; The new initiative aims to increase sustainability by eliminating the use of non-recyclable plastic packaging and materials.&nbsp; To replace the packaging, a new position has been created at Amazon distribution centers.&nbsp; These new employees are called \u201cholders\u201d and will be an integral part of the delivery process.&nbsp; Once a product is picked from the shelf it is handed off to one of these holders who must hold the products in their arms.&nbsp; Holders are then sorted and packed into the back of trucks, where they are shipped for delivery. &nbsp;Packageless delivery has implications across the e-commerce landscape.&nbsp; By replacing costly materials with cheap labor, Amazon stands to save billions while increasing their competitive advantage. Bezos explained he got the idea when watching a report on immigrants at America\u2019s southern border.&nbsp; \u201cThey were packed in there like sardines, you wouldn\u2019t believe how many people were in those trucks.&nbsp; I figured if they could do it, so could we\u201d.&nbsp; The announcement comes ahead of their Q1 earnings reports on April 29<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SEATTLE WA-  Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has announced that company will begin rolling out packageless delivery by the end of the summer.
